Processing Trauma
A trauma-informed, body-oriented approach integrates a deep understanding of how trauma is
imprinted in the body, while maintaining a focus on the innate resilience within each of us.

TRAUMA
Too much too fast... Too little for too long...

Trauma is not really what happens to us - that is the traumatic event. Trauma is what happens in our body as a response to the traumatic event - the meaning about ourselves that gets imprinted in our body and mental map, that can result in maladaptive coping patterns. This traumatic response occurs due to a mix of complex family and relational dynamics, developmental needs, and cultural and environmental factors.
As your therapist, I help you safely explore and process the psychological and physiological impact earlier traumatic experiences have had on your sensory, mental and
emotional system. In this way, we can outgrow the trauma.

As a depth psychotherapist, I utilize sensory modalities and the imagination to understand subconscious/unconscious needs and intentions. I have training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic models, and trauma-informed body/mind integrative strategies, such as, Traumatic Stress Studies, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing,
and Internal Family Systems.
Maladaptive coping patterns can lead to consistent experiences of self doubt and insecurity, and may show up as depression, anxiety, addiction behaviors, attention and focus issues, or identity confusion, and necessitate exploration and discovery from a stance of compassion and curiosity.

Outgrowing Trauma
Traumatic experiences can pull you into enactments in current relationships, leading to feeling powerless and confused. I help you stabilize the turbulence, make sense of relational patterns and belief states, and develop self trust as the key for increasing connection, courage, and hope.
With these qualities strengthened and accessible, you
essentially grow larger than your trauma response, loosening its impact and integrating new experiences into your body, accessing clarity, calm, and your organic resilience.

“We don't so much solve our problems as we outgrow them. We add capacities and experiences that eventually make us bigger than the problems.”
